Assessment

If your child is not yet water-safe, we highly recommend opting for private lessons. Please note that we do not offer group classes for non-swimmers at this time.
If your child is water-safe, over five years old, and capable of swimming 25 yards freestyle, they may be a suitable candidate for our swim club. To confirm their eligibility, please bring them for a swimming assessment.
Our swim club offers various levels such as Guppies, Otters and Dolphins. Assessments are conducted on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 5 PM in the large pool at the Centre Pointe Club building (look for the white sign at the end of the lane). Show up to any of these times for an assessment, no need to make an appointment.
During the assessment, the coach will ask your child to swim 25 yards of freestyle while breathing to the side, as well as the other three strokes. Based on their performance, the coach will recommend either a swimming group or private lessons.
Some children who meet the prerequisites for the Guppies (beginners group) and Otters (intermediate group) may still benefit from private lessons (e.g., one day for lessons and one for club swimming to improve endurance).
Guppies
To take beginner classes, you need to be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle without stopping.
Otters
To enroll in intermediate classes, you must be able to swim 50 yards of each of the four strokes and complete 50 yards of freestyle in under 2 minutes.
Dolphins
To join advanced classes, you need to be able to swim 100 yards of each of the four strokes and complete 100 yards of freestyle in under 3 minutes.
