Swim Club Assessment
If your child is not yet water-safe, we strongly recommend private lessons. Please note that we do not offer group classes for non-swimmers at this time.
Prerequisites for Swim Club To be eligible for an assessment, your child must be:
At least 5 years old
Water-safe
Able to swim 25 yards of freestyle
Assessment Details Assessments determine placement in our progressive club levels (Guppies, Otters, and Dolphins). No appointment is necessary, simply drop in during any of the designated times below.
When: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 5:00 PM
Where: Large Pool at the Centre Pointe Club (look for the white sign at the end of the lane)
What to Expect The coach will ask your child to swim 25 yards of freestyle with side-breathing, as well as demonstrate the other three strokes (backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly).
Following the assessment, the coach will recommend the best fit for your child, either a swim group, private lessons, or a combination of both (for example, combining private lessons to refine technique with group sessions to build endurance).
Guppies
To take beginner classes, you need to be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle without stopping.
Otters
To enroll in intermediate classes, you must be able to swim 50 yards of each of the four strokes and complete 50 yards of freestyle in under 2 minutes.
Dolphins
To join advanced classes, you need to be able to swim 100 yards of each of the four strokes and complete 100 yards of freestyle in under 3 minutes.
