Guppies
(Beginner Class) Available May through October:
For: This program is designed for water-safe children 5 years and up, who have basic swimming skills but need to build the stamina needed for full 25-yard laps. Swimmers will focus on half-lap distances to gradually increase their endurance.
Prerequisite: To join this program, participants need to show they are water-safe and can continuously swim one 25-yard length of freestyle. If your child isn't quite there yet, Private Lessons can provide the necessary skills.
Objective: This program aims to build well-rounded swimmers proficient in all four competitive strokes, with the ability to swim 50 yards of freestyle without stopping.
Otters
(Intermediate Class) Offered year-round:
For: This program is designed for water-safe children 7 years and up, who can comfortably swim full 50-yards and typically complete 750 yards (thirty lengths) or more per session to build endurance.
Prerequisite: To join this program, participants must demonstrate proficiency in all four swimming strokes and the ability to swim 50 yards (two lengths) of freestyle without interruption. Come for an assessment here.
Objective: To refine kicking, pulling, and drills for all four swimming strokes and achieve the ability to swim 100 yards (four lengths) of freestyle continuously.
Dolphins
(Advanced Class) Offered year-round:
For: Designed for water-safe children who have mastered all four swimming strokes and can comfortably swim 100-yards, this program focuses on refining technique and building advanced skills like diving and flip turns. Participants typically swim 1500 yards (60 lengths) or more per session.
Prerequisite: To join this program, participants must demonstrate proficiency in all four swimming strokes and the ability to swim 100 yards (four lengths) of freestyle without interruption. Come for an assessment here.
Objective: To master diving and flip turns, and achieve the ability to swim 200 yards (eight lengths) of freestyle continuously.
Swim Team
We compete in a swimming league against other swimming clubs in Los Angeles eg Culver, Santa Monica and Manhattan Beach. We average one competition a month and in the summer, we enter the Bay Area Championships in Montebello and SCMAF (Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation) meet in La Mirada.
Junior Lifeguard
(Advanced Class) Offered year-round:
For: Swimmers wanting to take part in Junior Lifeguard Summer Camp. Our approach emphasizes thorough training in swimming techniques and endurance, aiming to help participants meet the qualifying times for their age categories. We also offer coaching on crucial skills like effective breathing, turning, and race strategy. JLG swim tests will be in March and April. We suggest kids start swimming in February to give them enough time to train to achieve the qualifying time. They need at least 3 solid months of training and technique instruction to have a chance at making the qualifying time.

Objective: Pass the Junior Lifeguard Test.
